What do you fancy for dinner tonight? Italian? Chinese? French? With so many varieties of cuisine on offer in our globally-growing lives, Gordon Ramsay has put together an amazing book featuring his favourite recipes from around the world. Each chapter features a different country’s dishes that we love to eat, and would love to learn more about. Gordon delves into Middle Eastern, American, Thai, Chinese, Indian, Spanish, French, Italian, Greek, and even our own British. There are recipes for starters, mains and desserts. In addition, he explains certain techniques to go along with each type of cuisine. For example, he shows how to make Pasta, which is then transported into his recipe for Spinach, Ricotta and Pinenut Ravioli, and Curry Paste which is used for a Fragrant Green Curry with Beef. Also, each chapter begins with information on one of the best ingredients each cuisine has to offer, and five ways in which to enjoy it, like his Spanish-inspired five ways with piquillo peppers. Once again Gordon Ramsay provides an innovative range of recipes to be cooked every day, and no matter what you are in the mood for, this book has it covered. With stunning photography by Chris Terry, this is a fresh, modern addition to the ever-popular F-Word collection.

About the Author
Gordon Ramsay has earned an extraordinary 12 Michelin stars for his restaurants in London and New York. Now a celebrated television presenter, Gordon’s award-winning television series include Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares, The F Word and Cookalong Live. His other bestselling cookbooks – A Chef for All Seasons, Just Desserts, Gordon Ramsay’s Secrets, Gordon Ramsay Makes It Easy, Sunday Lunch, 3*** Chef, Fast Food and Healthy Appetite – are also published by Quadrille.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars The Man Knows His Stuff
I am a typical male, not a very good cook, but fortunately I know someone who is, my wife. So rather than buy the book for myself I saw it as a good opportunity to kill two birds with one stone so to speak. A present for my wife with the added attraction of getting some of Gordon’s meals thrown in, without having to pay restaurant prices.

By chef’s own admission the food is simple, but innovative and exciting and I have been fortunate to enjoy several of the recipes already.

I admire Mr. Ramsay for trying to coax the British public into getting round the table together on a Sunday lunch time. Whether it will ever happen in our house where the members are usually scattered to the four corners of the property, doing their own thing. A tray on the knee, or even walking around with a plate in their hand, I have my doubts.

I do remember many years ago when I lived at home with my parents that Sunday lunch was a ritual that was virtually impossible to escape from. If you were not at the table, hands and face sparkling, you wouldn’t hear the last of it until Monday morning.

However I digress, the book is a cook book. So is it any good. Well like the curates egg, it is good in parts. By that I mean, or so my wife tells me, that some of the recipes are excellent and some of them are OK and some of them she thinks she can do better herself, and who am I to argue.

5 Stars Not just lunch
Ignore the title, these recipes are good for evening meals too.

I’ve been a big fan of Gordon for some time, watching his shows, reading his autobiography etc. This is the first of his cookbooks I have owned and I am very impressed.

The food is excellent, the suggested menus work well together (although I often interchange dishes). As well as themed ‘lunches’ there are also little asides e.g. 5 ways with carrots, and the spiced carrots with star anise has been a big hit with our guests. I’ve used Gordon’s honey mustard marinade a lot, and the beef casserole with mustard mash potatoes has to be one of my favourites.

And as only a moderately experienced cook, I love the timelines for the themed lunches, i.e. what you can do the day before, what to do an hour ahead, what to do just before serving.

My favourite cookbook. Until, perhaps I buy another Ramsay cookbook.

5 Stars Gordon’s best cookbook so far
This book is filled with quick recipes that take minutes to prepare but look and taste as though they took a lot longer. Some of Gordon’s other cookbooks and recipes can be complicated and don’t work as well as they should for home cooks but this one is outstanding. It’s filled with advice and tips. The organization of the book is slightly strange, part is by category of dishes and part is by complete menus for a dinner. It’s filled with beautiful photos of the dishes and the sections where he has a complete menu he gives you a timeline of when you need to do each step so appetizer, main and dessert all are simple to prepare. Dinner guests will be impressed with the food in this book and you’ll be blow away at how easy it is to make something that looks and tastes as good as these dishes do.

5 Stars Excellent cookbook
This is by far the best cookbook I own. His recipes are all quick to make but taste like you spent hours. He uses an easy to understand approach to his recipes plus gives you a list of common things that everyone should keep in their kitchen for quick gourmet meals. We’ve cooked for friends with these recipes on several occasions and they keep asking when they can come back!

5 Stars You will use this Gordon Cookbook often
Having trawled through several of Gordon’s cookbooks, I decided that I just wouldn’t get any because I wouldn’t make most of the recipes within them. This one is different. The food is more ‘home cook’ rather than ‘posh restaurant’ but is still very impressive. A lot of hours have gone into the design work in the book. It contains 5 fast recipes for each – soups, starters, antipasti, salads, sandwiches, eggs, working lunches, pasta, shellfish, vegetarian, fish, meat, side dishes, fruity desserts, and creamy desserts, and then also includes menus for complete meals (including recipes) – light and healthy; morocco; country; italian; fish and chips; outdoor eating; mexican; easy for a crowd; tapas spread; cheap and cheerful; summer; indian; thai; sunday lunch and fast drinks party. You get quite a few recipes and tips for your money. If you only invest in one Gordon cookbook, this is probably the best so far.

Gordon Ramsay has recently become almost more famous for his award-winning TV shows “Kitchen Nightmares” and “The F Word”, than for his expertise as an awardwinning chef and restaurateur. However, at the heart of his talent is a passion for good food and an eye for perfection that has consistently seen him receive three coveted Michelin stars. He has been called the best chef of his generation, and this book sees Gordon at his day job – running a three-star kitchen and producing food often described as ’sublime’. Getting right to the heart of why Gordon is such a celebrated chef, the first part of the book shows 50 classic Gordon Ramsay recipes presented as they would be in one of his restaurants. The second part of the book shows the dishes presented in a domestic situation with full recipes and step-by-step instructions to recreate them yourself. Dishes include Gordon’s signature Lobster Ravioli, Corn Reared Beef Fillet with Marrow Crust, Ginger Mousse and a Bitter Chocolate Cylinder with Coffee Granite.

User Ratings and Reviews

2 Stars Not so 3 star
I own several of his mostly mediocre paperback cookbooks and was looking forward to the “real”

Gordon Ramsay, 3 star chef. The book comes beautifully packaged, costs a few beautiful dollars and contains nothing for the average or above average home cook to take from. These are strictly restaurant recipes to be executed in a restaurant environment. Many of the ingredients are hard to come by, at least in this country and the presentation of the dishes will require a full staff.

There are other restaurant cookbooks far more helpful, for example Alfred Portale’s Gotham. He offers alternate presentations to his over the top designs for us mere mortals and the recipes are written with a home cook in mind. Or, how about Thomas Keller’s French Laundry, it offers lessons in basic procedures and then builds on it. I don’t know about the rest of the world, but I buy celebrity cook books to look at the pretty pictures, learn some new tricks, try a few new recipes just for fun and hope that maybe one will become a keeper.

Gordon’s book does not fit any of the criteria.

5 Stars amazing BEAUTIFUL!!!!!
I HAVE JUST GOT GORDON RAMSEY’S 3 STAR CHEF , WOW , TOTALLY BEAUTIFUL I HAVE NOT COOKED FROM IT YET BUT I WOULD RATE IT ON PAR WITH OR ABOVE ANY OTHER ONE OF THE BEST COOK =BOOKS OUT THERE IE; THE FRENCH LAUNDRY, THE ART OF AUROLE , A RETURN T0 COOKING , BOUCHON , NOBU WEST , DANIEL BOULUDS COOKING IN NYC, OR ANY OF CHARLIE TROTTERS AMAZING BOOKS . HIS DEDICATION TO PERFECTION IS DISPLAYED ON EACH PAGE AMUSE TO DESSERT , AND HE IS ACTUALLY AS GOOD OF A PASTRY CHEF AS SAVORY -WD MAR2408 DENVER CO

5 Stars Perfect
Finally Gordan Ramsey has made a cookbook that lets one look over his shoulder into one of his restaurants (3 Michelin stars none the less) instead of the previous “celebrity chef” books (his and others) that are for people that like the pretty pictures and basic cooking.

There are 16 starters 17 main courses and 17 dessert recipes.

The recipes are each broken down with the suggested order for preparation as well as helpful tips like items that can be prepared in advance and how to assemble the finished dish.

This isn’t a book for fans of “30 minute meals” but for those confidant in their abilities and the desire to push their cooking to another level, this is a stunning book.

5 Stars Wonderful Presentations
I opened this book and was floored by the beauty of the presentations and the photography of it. Very inspiring to say the least! I would buy this book on those grounds alone. I haven’t found the recipes particularly difficult to follow and I would not consider myself anywhere near being a chef. If you want to see some inspiring creations, this is a good place to go.
